EFFECTIVE/ EFFICIENT & PURSUIT FOR EXCELLENCE:

EFFECTIVE/ EFFICIENT:

Be effective:

do the right things; focus on end/ result to be achieved.

Be efficient:

do the things the right way. Focus on means. Faultless and Speedy use of the means is the measure of efficiency.

Efficiency, like rules and procedures, is relevant only to facilitate effectiveness. It is more important to do the right thing than to do things right.

Don’t just be efficient. Be effective. To be the best, be both efficient and effective. Between the two, effectiveness is more important.

GEMS:

  • Handle a piece of paper only once.

  • Simple = Effective

______________

PURSUIT FOR EXCELLENCE:

Strive for excellence, not for perfection. Human beings can never be perfect, only God- our creator is perfect. Perfection (without fault or defect) is unattainable, frustrating and neurotic. Excellence (high quality) is attainable, gratifying and healthy. So don’t be perfect, just be your best. That is

excellence. striving for excellence is progress. So, your level of

performance is a choice. You can settle for mediocrity, or you can strive for excellence. Better, make a commitment to excellence and always try to better your best.

GEMS:

  • All labour that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking EXCELLENCE. If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the host of heaven and earth will pass to say, “Here lived a great sweeper who did his job well.”

  • The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen endeavour.

  • The starting point to becoming successful in any field is to become absolutely excellent in one area.

  • If a man writes a better book, preaches a better sermon, or makes a better mouse trap than his neighbour, though he builds his house in the woods, the world will make a beaten path to his door.

  • Don’t settle for less than your best.

  • To do common things uncommonly well brings success.

  • Give the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you.

  • Exceed expectations.

  • Be the best of whatever you are.

  • Good, better, best

Never let it rest,

Until the good is better

And the better best.

  • Success is not perfection; success is slightly above average.

  • A great man leaves clean work behind him, and requires no sweeper to clean up the chips.

  • Never expect a perfect work from an imperfect man.
