1489- GOD!

That- SAT CHIT ANANDA!
(Thanks Ben Gilberti)
------------------------------------------
Anything other than that which is, is not. And hence that which is, is all there is, because all else is not. And since that which is is all there is, it is therefore entire, total, complete, whole, one, harmonious, perfect, absolute, infinite and eternal (or, in other words, God). And since God is all there is, there cannot be anything at all that is less than, or other than, or opposed to God. And since awareness necessarily must exist in order for you to know this, then awareness, the pure “I,” must be God.

1488-Somehow, it may bring luck, whether you believe it or not!

---------------------------------------
There is popular anecdote about a friend who visited the home of a prominent physicist Neils Bohr, the famous atom scientist and Nobel prize winner. The visitor was surprised to find a horseshoe above the front doorway of the scientist’s abode. Tradition asserts that a horseshoe acts as a talisman of luck when placed over a door.
The visitor asked the physicist about the purpose of the horseshoe while expressing incredulity that a man of science could possibly be influenced by a simple-minded folk belief. The physicist replied slyly:
"Of course I don’t believe in it, but I understand it brings you luck, whether you believe in it or not."

" I need to eat before I can feed...l can give back to society in some measure what it has always so lovingly given me...The end objective is to be happy, which rarely ever gets fulfilled... The only people who can survive the onslaught, then, are the ones who can find the 'x' element that can make them happy. I found social service to be the 'X' element. 1478- . Freedom from emotional, Physical, mental pain and addictions

Actually our position is that we are always rendering service (giving love) to someone, either to our family, country, or society. If we have no one to serve, sometimes we keep a pet cat or dog and render service to it.

All these factors prove that we are constitutionally meant to render service (and love someone), yet in spite of serving to the best of our ability, we are not satisfied. (even our bodies demand service with addictions) Nor is the person to whom we are rendering that service or loving satisfied.

On the material platform, everyone is frustrated. The reason for this is that the service being rendered is not properly directed. For example, if we want to render service to a tree, we must water the root. If we pour water on the leaves, branches, and twigs, there is little benefit.

If the Supreme Personality of Godhead is served, all other parts and parcels will be automatically satisfied. Consequently all welfare activities as well as service to society, family, and nation are realized by serving (and loving) the Supreme Personality of Godhead. (God)

... If this is possible, then our lives become successful.(and we reap so many benefits)

1. Freedom from emotional and mental pain.
2. Relief from physical pain.
3. End of depression and neurosis.
4. Curing food addiction, sex addiction, and drug addictions
5. No more disturbed marriages.

1476- What is Advaita, or nonduality?

Advaita and the analogy of hand!
________________________
Advaita means nondual or "not two." This oneness is a fundamental quality of everything. Everything is a part of and made of one nondual conciousness. Often the question arises, "If it is all one thing, why don’t I experience it that
way?" This is confusing oneness for theappearance of sameness. Things can appear different without being separate.

Just look at your hand for a moment. Your fingers are all different from each other, but are they separate? They all arise from the same hand.
Similarly, the objects, animals, plants and people in the world are all definitely different in their appearance and functioning. But they are all connected at their source—they come from the same source.

This one Being that is behind all life has an infinite number of different expressions that we experience as different objects.

To continue with the hand analogy, your fingers are all made of the same substance. They are made up of similar tissues, cells, atoms, and at the deepest level, subatomic particles. Similarly, when your experience of
reality becomes more subtle, you discover that everything is just different expressions of one field of nondual Being.

Non-duality is the supreme truth of the existence, not being mutually exclusive- like light & shade, long& short, black & white, that can only be experienced in relation to each other. There are no opposites, only relationships.

Atma and paramatma are one and the same. That is non duality/ adwaita. Tat sat- That (Brahman/ Paramatma) alone is the only truth. If that is understood, then the physical world is apparent reality i.e an illusion (jnana yoga).

Then whatever is being done with a prasada bhava (karma yoga) , agaami karma will not bind us but to suffer only prarabda karma. Once what is (Sat)real is understood, karma yoga is adopted, then Bhagavannaama smarana (bhakti yoga) will take care of the moderm man, a man in hurry.

If lot of time is available then rajayoga is available. In which mind is disciplined by practising ashtanga yoga (of sage Patanjali) - 1.yama(ahimsa, satyam ,asteya, brahmacharya and aparihraha) 2.niyama (saucha, santosha, tapas, swadyaya and eswarapranidana) 3.asana 4.pranayama 5.pratyahara 6.dharana 7.dhyana and 8.samadhi I.e the eight steps of - following moral codes, self purification, posture, breath control , withdrawing the mind from the senses, concentration, deep meditation and union with the object of meditation.

To become a graduate from lkg, it takes 20 years. To reach even spiritual heights, it takes time. No pain, no gain!

Relativity and Adwaita

"Relativity can only begin when you have two. (The field of duality -sapeksh).
If there is no-two then the question of relativity does not arise.
The realm of the absolute is described as nirpeksh - not relative.
That the very concept of Space becomes relevant only when you have two. Some form of separation is only possible if there is not-one (then we can operate in the field of duality). Hence the very concept of space is taking for granted that there is more than one. Modern Physics is progressing towards this kind of thinking but is not anywhere near such lofty ideas. It cannot dismiss the very concept of space. All it has done at the moment is to say space and time cannot be separate and there is nothing like absolute space or absolute time. (both are relative).

Special Relativity theory came about due to one very unique property observed in nature. This property relates to something almost 'magical' about light. If we rush at great speed - say at the speed of light - and catch up to a beam of light we find that it is still travelling away from us at the speed of light! It is this unique speed of light that seems to remain the same - no matter how fast we race towards it or away from it - it remains the same.

It is this almost 'magical quality' of constancy of speed of light that translates with simple mathematics into the ideas that space and time can no longer be rigid and independent but have to be malleable and inter-related. Hence the use of the word relativity. (space and time are no longer absolute and rigid but are elastic). Just a little bit more mathematics then shows up as the famous equation E = mc2. (matter is equivalent to energy). This theory was further refined (and called general relativity) which went on to say that even the gravitational pull we observe is nothing more than a geometric twisting of this space/time.

Physics today does not talk 'Advaita' but slowly and surely it is moving in that direction. (We have replaced absolute space and absolute time with absolute 'space/time'!)

1474- Courage!

Courage is being gracious under pressure. Success is the child of audacity.
Fortune befriends the bold.
No guts no glory.
Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.
One man with courage makes a majority.
It is not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog that counts.
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
____________________________

Courage is all about facing what we’re scared to do but know we need to do — and doing it. Its opposite is cowardice, its shadow recklessness. Courage is not fearlessness, but a resolute refusal to be paralyzed by fear and confusion, a deliberate turning and moving toward the dragon, step by conscious step, an activation of our will to persist in difficult conditions. Courage may falter and lose steam, but it does not quit, unless quitting is the more fitting and courageous choice.

1471- 'unless one beomes like a child he cannot enter the Kingdom of God'....Christ

A passing thought!
---------------------------------
Man is born innocent, with no inhibitions but with lot of inquisitiveness. Hence a child is considered Godlike. As the child grows up, he loses his innocence and acquires all negative characters observing the world around (like a lampshade gathering dust and not allowing the light to pass through it). Like the lamp shade is to be cleaned in order to allow the light to shine through, the man has to get rid off the vile and the negative characters, to return to his child like innocence to attain Godhood (allow the atma to shine through)!

1468- Not religion but religiousness!

---------------------------------------------
I like how Osho managed to salvage the core of the word "religion"/true spirituality...by separating "religious" from "religion".

Religious being the alive impulse...the living essence, and religion being the dead exoskeleton left behind once the life has moved on.

Separate Christ from Christianity...Buddha even from Buddhism. Religiousness is not a dead thing like a belief or an image, but the very living essence of stripping off all the conditioning and meeting existence itself as a lover!

1466- The search

----------------------
A boss wondered why one of his most valued employees had not phoned in sick one day.
Having an urgent problem with one of the main computers,he dialed the employee's cell phonenumber and was greeted with a child's whisper.
"Hello."
"Is your daddy home?" he asked.
"Yes," whispered the small voice.
"May I talk with him?"
The child whispered, "No."
Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, "Is your Mommy there?"
"Yes," whispered the small voice.
"May I talk with her?"
Again the small voice whispered, "No."
Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked, "Is anybody else there?"
"Yes," whispered the child, "a policeman"
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss asked, "May I speak with the policeman?"
"No, he's busy", whispered the child.
"Busy doing what?"
"Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman," the whisper answered.
Growing more worried as he heard what sounded like a helicopter through the earpiece on the phone, the boss asked, "What is that noise?"
"A helicopter." answered the whispering voice.
"What is going on there?" demanded the boss, now truly apprehensive.
Again, whispering, the child answered, "The search team just landed the helicopter."
Alarmed, concerned and a little frustrated the boss asked, "What are they searching for?"
Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle. "Me"

1465- Religion

" Imagine, with John Lennon, a world with no religion. Imagine no suicide bombers, no 9/11, no 7/7, no crusades, no witch hunts, no gun powder plot, no Indian partition, no Israeli/ Palestinian war, no Serb/ Croat/ Muslim massacres, no persecution of Jews as 'Christ-killers', no Northern Ireland 'troubles', no 'honour killings', no shiny-suited bouffant haired televangelists fleecing gullible people of their money ( God wants you to give till it hurts). Imagine no Taliban to blow up ancient statues, no public beheading of blasphemers, no flogging of female skin for the crime of showing an inch of it."
-Richard Dawkins (The God Delusion)
