2077- Ravindra Patil , the prime witness in actor Salman Khan's rash driving case

Salman Khan
Here I am giving a point just ask all the people what they will say when in place on the people died or injured is replaced by the ones they love...
Just saying, all those who are supporting Salman Khan, and saying footpath is not a place to sleep, obviously it is not I agree completely, but I think it is also not to drive... and is it obvious people sleeping over there must not be on leisure trip or participating in any reality show, they were sleeping just because they don't have roof over their head to stay safe like we all do...whatever be the reason and whoever is responsible for their condition, that is totally different topic of discussion..
Just a flipside view: Just imagine a member of your family walking on the same footpath or just standing there for some reason, same Salman khan came drunk and driving, and hit that member of your family....will then also your logic goes same of it will change just because that person is your near and dear ones, If your statement changes then we should think of what kind of humanity we are practicing.....
And this whole lot of bunch of bollywood morons, esp. Mr. Abhijeet Bhattacharya (singer I admire since childhood) not any more....will say the same, dogs walking on the footpath, they can't afford this that and blah blah blah...
If all get out of trauma of Salman getting convicted please give it a thought...

1942- Radios & nostalgia

__________________
The pleasant memories of a bygone era, when life was not controlled by TV or social networks like fb etc but moved at a slow and relaxed pace with valve radios (later transistors) and gramophones, haunt.
Middle1950s through’60s, makes me nostalgic of Telugu/ English news readers, drama artists, Sunday cinemas (only audio), programmes etc.-Mangamma, Rajamannar, Melvel de mellow,Surjit Sen, Latika Ratnam, Balanandam annayya- Nyapati Raghava Rao, Karmikula karyakramam Ekambaram, Subbaramayya, Dharmasandehalu- Ushasri, Nanduri Subba Rao, Vittal, Banda Kanakalingeswar Rao, Samantaka Mani, Sarada Srinivasan, Sarada Asokavardhan, Sthanam. Radio Ceylon ‘Binaca/ Cibaca Geetamala’ on Wednesdays at 8pm- Ameen Sayani; KLSaigal song at the end of Hindi songs in radio Ceylon, Vividh Bharati with their popular programmes 'Sangeet Sarita', 'Bhule Bisre Geet', Hawa Mahal, 'Jaimala', 'Inse Miliye', 'Chhaya Geet' etc.,
5day test cricket match commentary by Chakrapani, Anand Rao, expert comments by Raja of Vizayanagaram-‘Vizzy’! Radios- Pie,Murphy, Bush, Sharp jhankar etc.HMV Gramophones with handles to wind and needles 78rpms, later with light crystals 45, 33.3 rpms, LPs etc.(Even now, I hold those LPs, like clinging to old memories). All these will definitely have resonance with all the senior citizens.

Those days were not with so many comforts as of the present, but life with few wants was very sublime and fulfilling. ‘Jaane kahaan gayE O din..’- to quote Mera Nam Joker.
Now radio is resurrected with FMs, since 2005, with their RJs trying to out beat the pioneer, Ameen Sayani of Binaca geetmala!
[Binaca brand was owned by Reckitt Benckiser which sold it to Dabur in 1996 for INR12 million (US$190,000)].

1626- British rule, wa it in any way useful to India?

I accept that British were not philanthropists.
The East India company received a Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth in 1600, making it the oldest among several similarly formed European East India Companies. Wealthy merchants and aristocrats owned the Company's shares. The government owned no shares and had only indirect control. The company eventually came to rule large areas of India with its own private armies, exercising military power and assuming administrative functions.Company rule in India effectively began in 1757 after the Battle of Plassey and lasted until 1858 when, following the Indian Rebellion of 1857, the Government of India Act 1858 led to the British Crown to assume direct control of India in the new British Raj.

over the course of two centuries, British intellectuals and Indian specialists made the highest priority bringing peace, unity and good government to India. They offered many competing methods to reach the goal. For example,

-Cornwallis recommended turning Bengali Zamindar into the sort of English landlords that controlled local affairs in England.
-Munro proposed to deal directly with the peasants.
-Sir William Jones and the Orientalists promoted Sanskrit,
-while Macaulay promoted the English language.
-I need not tell about CPBrown who did yeoman service to Telugu and in turn to the Telugus.

In the long-run, what matters most about the legacy of the Raj is the British political ideologies which the Indians took over after 1947, especially the belief in unity, democracy, the rule of law and a certain equality beyond caste and creed.

1462- Diabetes & HIT

Just two minutes of high-intensity training (HIT) exercise per week can help prevent type 2 diabetes, a new study has claimed.
Researchers from the Abertay University, UK, believe that HIT is the perfect way for people who are time-poor to improve their health.
In the study, overweight adults – a group at high-risk of developing diabetes – took part in a HIT regime for a period of eight weeks.
This involved completing twice-weekly sprints on an exercise bike, with each sprint lasting just six seconds.
Ten sprints were completed in total during each session, amounting to just two minutes of exercise per week.
This short, but high-intensity, regime was enough to significantly improve cardiovascular health and insulin sensitivity – the body’s ability to clear glucose from the bloodstream – in the participants, and is the first time that so little exercise has been shown to have such significant health benefits, researchers said.

1427- All the pampering till the polls only...A POLITICALLY CORRECT JOKE:

------------------------------------
THIS IS A NON-PARTISAN JOKE THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY ALL PARTIES! NOT ONLY THAT-- it is POLITICALLY CORRECT!!

While walking down the street one day a 'Member of Parliament' is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. 'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter. 'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'

'No problem, just let me in,' says the man.

'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.'

'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the MP.

'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.' And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & nice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises... The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

'Now it's time to visit heaven.'

So, 24 hours pass with the MP joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.'

The MP reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.'

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. 'I don't understand,' stammers the MP. 'Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?'

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, 'Yesterday we were campaigning.. ....and....
TODAY YOU VOTED.'

1426- Only for Narendra Modi fans...

________________________
India is running on trial and error........
Error was congress and now trial will be BJP!
*********************
read this ..
Recently, India's most well-known film script-writer Salim Khan (actor Salmaan Khan's father) has said to a senior journalist in an interview: "Does anyone remember who the chief minister of Maharashtra was during the Mumbai riots which were no less deadly than the Gujarat riots of 2002?

Does anyone recall the name of the chief minister of UP during Malliana and Meerut riots or that of the Bihar CM when the Bhagalpur or Jamshedpur riots under Congress regimes took place?

Do we hear names of earlier chief ministers of Gujarat under whose charge, hundreds of riots took place in post-Independence India?

Does anyone remember who was in-charge of Delhi's security when
the 1984 massacre of Sikhs took place in the capital of India?

How come Narendra Modi has been singled out as the Devil Incarnate as if he personally carried out all the killings during the
riots of 2002?"

No speck of doubt about what Salim Khan has said.
* * * *
When one says Gujarat's agriculture growth is 10-11% since whole last decade
The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says he made the Asia's biggest solar plant,
The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says Gujarat is the only state in the whole of India to provide 24*7 and 365 days electricity to almost all of its 18,000
villages,
The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says - World Bank's statement of 2011 said, Gujarat roads are equivalent to international standards,
The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says Gujarat is the first State in country to have "high speed wireless Broadband service in its all 18,000 villages,
The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says Forbes Magazine rated Ahmadabad as the fastest
growing city in India and 3rd in the world,
The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says Gujarat Tourism is growing faster than ever before,
The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says according to central govt's Labour Bureau's report, Gujarat has the lowest unemployment rate in country,
The other says 2002 Riots!

When Narendra Modi is being chosen as the best current Indian leader in
almost all surveys & polls again and again
The other says 2002 Riots!

When one says 2003-2013 are the only 10 straight years in Gujarat history which are totally riot-free,
The other STILL says 2002 Riots!

But when we remind them about riots which occurred during Congress and in Communist Party rule :

1947
Bengal....5,000 to 10,000 dead ...CONGRESS RULE.

1967
Ranchi....200 DEAD..........CONGRESS RULE.

1969
Ahmedabad...512 DEAD........CONGRESS RULE.

1970
Bhiwandi....80 DEAD.............CONGRESS RULE.

1979

1980

1983
Nellie Assam.....5,000 DEAD...CONGRESS RULE.

1984
anti-Sikh Delhi...2,733 DEAD...CONGRESS RULE

1984
Bhiwandi....146 DEAD....CONGRESS RULE

1985
Gujarat.....300 DEAD..CONGRESS RULE

1986

1421- Beauty and India's contribution!

___________________________________
Jaipur girl Koyal Rana has won the coveted Femina Miss India 2014 title at the 51st edition of the beauty pageant, defeating 24 other gorgeous finalists from across the country.

The 21-year-old diva will now represent India at the Miss World 2014 beauty pageant this year, hence joining the elite league of beauty queens like Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen and Priyanka Chopra, who brought laurels to the country by winning the international titles.

Koyal says after winning the Femina Miss India 2014 title her next target is Miss World.

________________________________
Reita Faria was the first Indian and Asian to be crowned Miss World in the year 1966.

___________________________________
Now dubbed as the 'most beautiful woman in the world', Aishwarya Rai was just another face when she first set out to compete with the best at Miss World 1994.

Apart from winning the biggie, Aish also won the Miss Photogenic award and Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty − Asia & Oceania. And why not!

Having starred in Hollywood films such as 'Mistress of Spices', 'The Last Legion' and 'Pink Panther 2', it's only fair to call Aishwarya the global face of India.

___________________________________
It was 'THE' moment for beauty queen Sushmita Sen when the name for Miss Universe 1994 was announced.
She was the youngest of the 77 contestants and won a million hearts with her ideologies in
life.Boasting of a very healthy mix of beauty and brains, Sushmita answered the final question - 'What is the essence of a woman?' - with utmost care. She said, 'Just being a woman is God's gift. The origin of a child is a mother, a woman. She shows a man what sharing, caring and loving is all about. That is the essence of a woman.'

_____________________________________
At 18, Priyanka didn't do a great job with the final question which eventually won her the Miss World crown in 2000.
She was asked: 'Who do you think is the most successful woman living today and why?' To which she answered: 'There are a lot of people I admire, but one of the most admirable people is Mother Teresa, who has been so compassionate, considerate and kind.'

Mother Teresa passed away on September 5, 1997.
Apart from winning the prestigious Miss World title, Priyanka also bagged the Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty - Asia & Oceania title.Priyanka immediately shifted course to Bollywood and went on to feature in box-office hits such as 'Andaaz', 'Mujhse Shaadi Karoge' and 'Aitraaz'. She is now one of the most sought after actresses, thanks to films like 'Fashion' and 'Barfi'.

___________________________________________
With a mind and face like hers, it was a given she would win the Miss Universe title in 2001. Post her win, she was appointed as the UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador in 2001.
The gorgeous Lara then moved to Hindi cinema and was an instant hit. Although her film career took a nose dive after the first few years, she managed to stay in the news.
Lara tied the knot with tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi. They have a daughter - Saira.

___________________________________
The terrific trio.

The year 2000 was a glorious year as it saw 3 beautiful faces represent India on global platforms. Lara Dutta charmed all when she won Miss Universe, while Priyanka Chopra did us proud with her Miss World title. Dia Mirza, arguably the most beautiful face we have ever seen, wasn't behind as she bagged the Miss Asia-Pacific title with much ease.
Dia holds the distinction of being the first Indian to win the Miss Asia Pacific title since 1973. The first being evergreen actress Zeenat Aman.

__________________________________
Diana Hayden is the third Indian to have won the Miss World crown in 1997,after Reita Faria (1966) and Aishwarya Rai (1994).
Unlike her peers, Diana moved to London to study acting. She stayed away from Bollywood but did appear in TV reality show 'Bigg Boss 2".

________________________________________
Aditi Gowitrikar might not have pursued a film career seriously, but she did a good job of winning the Mrs World title in 2001.
Did you know she is also a doctor? Multi-faceted, we say!

__________________________________
Those were the best days!
Two years after Diana Hayden's win, Yukta Mookhey won the Miss World title in 1999.
Unlike some of the other Miss World winners, Yukta couldn't strike gold in movies and so stayed away from media glare until recently when she filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband in July, 2013.

Manasvi Mamgai won Miss Tourism International in 2008.

This Bangalore chick, Nicole Faria, did us proud when she won Miss Earth 2010, and became the first Indian to win the title.

1412- Jest joking! : - ) --- The Haircut..

______________________
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut.
After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.'

The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'Thank You' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you , I'm doing community service this week.'

The cop was happy and left the shop.

The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'Thank You' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a politician came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.'

The politician was very happy and left the shop.

The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen politicians lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

REMEMBER:
POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS SHOULD BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON.

1378- Khushwant Singh, journalist and writer, dies at 99

NEW DELHI (AP) — Khushwant Singh, the self-proclaimed “dirty old man of Indian journalism”, a journalist, editor and one of the country's best-known as well prolific writers for more than six decades, whose work ranged from serious histories to joke collections to one of post-Independence India's great novels, died Thursday at his New Delhi apartment. He was 99.
He received the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award.
His wife died in 2002. He is survived by his daughter Lata and a son Rahul.
His self-written epitaph says humorously, “Here lies one who spared neither man nor God; Waste not your tears on him, he was a sod.”
RIP!
"we look at some of his most important works - a difficult task given the immense body of work he leaves behind.

Train to Pakistan (1953)
In the summer of 1947 when India is being partitioned, the hamlet of Mano Majra comes to terms with the new reality of India and Pakistan, Hindus and Muslims. The truth is brought home when a ghost train arrives in the isolated village, carrying bodies of hundreds of refugees. It is left to a boy and a girl, from different religions, to rise beyond this abyss of religious hatred.
I Shall Not Hear the Nightingale (1959)
Set in British India, Kushwant Singh's second novel is about a magistrate loyal to Britishers and his nationalist son who believes in using the gun to drive out the Britishers. The son is arrested and the father is given two choices - either the son betrays his comrades or get hanged.
A History of Sikhs (1963)This two-volume book is considered the most comprehensive and authoritative book on the Sikhs.
Based on solid research, it is written in a way to be accessible to even the lay reader.
The Company of Women (1999)
A work of fiction, Khushwant Singh wrote this novel at the age of 84. A comment on hypocrisy in the Indian society, the book tells the story of Mohan Kumar who believes "lust is the true foundation of love". The book was talked about for its unbridled sexuality and brazen views on man-woman relationship.
Truth, Love and a Little Malice (2002)
His image was not something Kushwant Singh was ever overtly concerned about. His autobiography which delves into his personal life and all those he met during the journey was controversial yet true to its title. Right from his first relationship to important political events he witnessed to his familial roots - all find a place here and are handled unabashedly and truthfully.
Why I Supported the Emergency (2004)This bold and thought provoking collection of essays on India's Emergency explained the reasons why Khushwant Singh supported the proclamation on June 25. In the book, he goes to point out the mistakes which were made then and which, he says, must be avoided the next time conditions require suspension of democratic norms for the preservation of law and order. The book was edited by Sheela Reddy."

1353- Live in harmony

Sean Smith, who will present a seminar, Just Jump, in Chennai, talks about faith, life, work and more

_______________________________________

Sean Smith, who is called ‘the premier breakthrough coach’ works with business owners and helps them “find their purpose”, besides helping identify what’s holding them back from success. He hails from Southern California and will be in Chennai to talk about the ‘seven deadliest mistakes in goal setting’ and the ‘5 Fs — Fascination, Feedback, Fun, Faith and Fight,’ among other things.

advice given to people who are looking to set GOALS for themselves- Professionally and personally:-

First, consider what your goals are and write them down:
Studies always show that people who write their goals down are many times more likely to achieve them. The clearer you are, the more chances you have to achieve them as well.

Second, visualise and affirm the achievement of your goals daily:
The unconscious mind is a very powerful achievement mechanism, but it does not get engaged unless the goal is clear and inspiring. The more you imagine yourself achieving the goal, the more motivated you will be.

Third, create a clear action plan for each goal:
Most people who do set goals stop there. They don’t design a path to get where they want to be. It is usually very inspiring when you see the “how” illuminated for a goal that is important to you.

Fourth, create public accountability by telling other people what you are committing to achieve:
I often place my goals in a public forum such as Facebook and even offer consequences for not doing the necessary activities.

Fifth, set yourself up to succeed with a success team:
I believe a good success team has five components — a mastermind group, a daily accountability partner, a mentor, a private life or business coach, and constant studying through seminars, books and audio programmes.

Finally, appreciate yourself for your efforts, not just your outcomes:
Most people put too much pressure on themselves to achieve their tangible goals, and in that process either sabotage themselves because of the pressure, or create a pattern of always having to achieve another goal to feel happy and important. Give yourself praise for trying, not just for achieving.
